Popular Pre-Owned Toyota Models

4Runner

Type:  Mid Size SUV
Drive:
Rear and available All Wheel Drive

The Toyota 4Runner is probably the most recognizable SUV.  Starting out as the smaller cousin to the infamous Land Cruiser, the popular 4Runner ultimately replaced the Land Cruiser altogether as Toyota's primary and best-selling SUV.  The 4Runner has retained its body-on-frame truck based platform and solid rear axle which has allowed 4Runner to keep its legendary reputation for off-road performance intact, while its competitors moved their SUV's to more car-like, uni-body platforms.

Overall, the 4Runner is a good choice for buyers in need of a dependable SUV that's comfortable for everyday use while still being rugged enough for recreational off-road duty.  Buyers will be rewarded with a capable, long-lasting vehicle that retains its resale value very well.  Early 4Runners had a 4 cylinder motor, then graduated to V6 and optional V8 models as the size of the truck grew.  The 4Runner seats 5 adults comfortably.

Avalon

Type:  Full Size Sedan
Drive:
Front and All Wheel Drive

The Avalon is Toyota's full-size sedan, with standard V6 power, lots of interior space and a reputation for reliability.   It boasts an upscale and refined design, and major mechanical advancements -- including extra power and a more capable suspension -- have enabled the Avalon's performance to rival that of the best large sedans. Even base versions are equipped with impressive standard features. Overall, a new or used Avalon is certainly worth considering if you're looking for a comfortable large sedan.

Camry

Type:  Mid-Sized Sedan
Drive:
Front and available All Wheel Drive

From its introduction in 1983, the Camry would go on to dominate the midsize family sedan segment for the next 25 years.  Consumers immediately embraced it for its high build quality, comfortable ride and impressive durability.

Initially available only with a four-cylinder engine, the Camry soon saw the option of a V6 and, as the years went by, upgrades in size, luxury and feature content. The Camry's immense popularity in the U.S. inspired Toyota to set up a manufacturing plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, in the late 1980s. More trim levels became available, including the sporty SE and posh XLE.

Still upholding its strong reputation, the Toyota Camry continues to be a top choice for those seeking a roomy, comfortable and dependable family car.

Camry Solara

Type:  Mid Sized 2-Door Coupe
Drive:
Front Wheel Drive

Toyota's sporty sibling of the Camry Sedan enjoys a similar reputation for being reliable, well built and nicely appointed and styled.  The Camry Solara Coupe and available Convertible models also enjoy additional qualities for fun and excitement.  The concept of a larger, stylish convertible coupe goes back to the appeal of large American sedans of the 1950's, 60's and early 70's.  Toyota has resurrected the popular configuration, combining it with the overall quality, value and reliability.

Four and Six cylinder engines are available. Toyota Camry Solara is reasonably priced and offers great value considering all that it delivers.  If you treasure overall quality, value and comfort, there are few coupes or convertibles that put it all together as well as the Camry Solara.

Corolla

Type:  Compact / Economy Car
Drive:
Front Wheel Drive

Simply stated, the Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history.  Now in its 10th generation, (first introduced in the U.S. in 1968) the formula for this car's success has remained unchanged:  it is inexpensive to buy and operate, very reliable, fuel efficient, and reasonably roomy for its class.  The Corolla's 4 cylinder is peppy and does reasonably well in snow when equipped with snow-tires.  More recent Corolla's have been praised for being even more refined and fun to drive thanks to suspension and handling design upgrades. Well maintained, many Corollas last hundreds of thousands of miles and retain their value very well.

FJ Cruiser

Type:  Mid Size SUV
Drive:
Rear and available All Wheel Drive
Buyers who still desired an unstoppable, almost indestructable, off-road beast were left with fewer choices as SUVs moved to more car-like configurations and abilities.  The old-school 4x4 crowd got exactly what they wanted when Toyota created the FJ Cruiser.  To clarify this was a vehicle with old-school 4x4 toughness, Toyota based the FJ's styling on their classic FJ40, Toyota's popular first 4x4 offering in North America.  Plenty of features on the FJ Cruiser are of the new-school of 4x4 competencies, including an electronic locking differential, stability control, hill descent control, anti-lock brakes (ABS), all available as options.  A special TRD package even adds a factory supercharger.

Beneath the hood of the 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser is a 4.0-liter V6 good for 260 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Both a five-speed automatic and a six-speed manual transmission are offered. FJs with manual transmissions are only available with a full-time four-wheel-drive system; models with automatic transmissions come with either two-wheel drive or a part-time 4WD system.

Highlander

Type:  Mid Sized SUV / Crossover
Drive:
Front and available All Wheel Drive

As the customer base for SUV's expanded to include groups such as families and commuters, so did concerns about the safety of traditional body-on-frame SUV's.  Less concerned with pure off-road competency, these buyers demanded much safer, much more refined vehicle, that could handle snow and other inclement weather situations with deft and confidence, as well as an occasional, if more mild, off-road assignment.

Toyota responded quickly and brilliantly by creating the Highlander. Thus, Toyota Highlander was one of the first midsize "crossover" sport-utilities to appear on the scene. With a car-like, unibody design based upon the Toyota Camry platform, the original Highlander provided a variety of benefits over Toyota's more traditional SUVs, such as better handling, less cabin noise, improved crash-worthiness and easier entry and exit for passengers. Think of the Highlander as an elevated, oversize Camry wagon dressed for the great outdoors, and you've got the general idea.  The SUV Crossover segment that the Highlander helped create is currently the most best-selling segment in the automotive industry.

As a pre-owned selection, the Highlander remains one of the better values for individuals and families who need a comfortable, easy-to-drive vehicle that can carry a fair amount of cargo, handle occasional snow and ice during the winter months and still turn in adequate fuel economy.

Matrix

Type:  Compact Wagon
Drive:
Front and available All Wheel Drive

The Toyota Matrix is basically the 5 door / wagon variant of the Toyota Corolla, with the added enhancements of dramatic and sporty styling cues and available All Wheel Drive.  All of the usual Corolla selling points are represented in the Matrix: great fuel economy, low-cost of operation, reliability, and convenience.  The added fun factor has made the Toyota Matrix a popular choice for drivers of all ages and driving tastes.

The Matrix has enough space inside to carry items up to 8 feet long. Front bucket seats and a spacious, functional interior make the Matrix just as adept at transporting people.  The Matrix is one of the best choices available for a small wagon or hatchback.

RAV4

Type:  Compact SUV / Crossover
Drive:  Front and available All Wheel Drive

The smallest in Toyota's large family of SUVs is one of the more appealing SUV Crossover vehicles, featuring a safe, unibody construction, available All Wheel drive, and spacious interior. Matched with Toyota reliability has made the little Toyota RAV4 a potent seller through its now 3rd generation.

Originally available in a 2 or 4 door, and even a rare convertible version, the 2nd and 3rd generation RAV's are more traditional 4 door models, with available 4 or 6 cylinder engine choices. Inside, the Toyota RAV4 is almost as spacious as its bigger brother, Toyota Highlander.  A true multi-purpose vehicle, many praise the RAV4 for its on-road manners, while other industry professionals delight in its class-leading off-road talents.  With its size and configuration, the Matrix bridges a crucial gap between econo-wagons like the above Toyota Matrix, and larger SUV's like the Highlander and Toyota 4Runner.

Sienna

Type:  Minivan
Drive:
Front and available All Wheel Drive

Intense competition from other vehicles in its class, and from the SUV segment vying for more and more family oriented buyers, has pushed the minivan to become an ever more refined, comfortable and safe multi-passenger, and multi-functional, vehicle.

The Toyota Sienna has lead that charge, with excellent safety and reliability ratings and convenience features such as dual-sliding side doors, multi-port entertainment features, captains chairs, multi-zone climate control and much more.  The Sienna is offered with a fuel efficient 4 cylinder motor, or the smooth, powerful V6 derived from the Toyota Camry Sedan.  A choice of front or all wheel drive systems are available as well.

Active families should be encouraged to include at least 1 or 2 test-drives in a class-leading minivan like the Toyota Sienna, even if they are more inclined to purchase an SUV.  Today's minivans are packed with features, and oftentimes offer greater fuel economy, safety, ease-of access, and more cargo space than their seemingly more adventurous SUV counterparts.

Tacoma

Type:  Mid Sized Pickup Truck
Drive:
Rear and available Four Wheel Drive

There are many vehicles in the Toyota lineup that can be singled out as the vehicle that drove Toyota to emerge as the world's largest vehicle producer.  With its reputation for rugged, no-nonsense durability and quality, the Toyota Tacoma stands out from the rest.  The Toyota Tacoma is the benchmark to which all other pickup trucks currently aspire.  All around performance, off road and on, as well as quality and reliability make Tacoma the leader.  In the 2000's, Toyota expanded Tacoma's appeal with several new configurations including a new crew cab (4 door), extended cab, regular cab and more. Rear and 4 wheel drives are available, as well as a choice between 4 and 6 cylinder engines.

A special TRD performance package gives the truck enhanced power and off-road functionality with a locking rear-differential and other mechanical upgrades.  Tacoma's last and hold their value for hundreds of thousands of miles.  Tacoma has conquered The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and is also favored by the National Forest Service as one of the trucks in its fleet. In short, if you can find a Tacoma with a clean vehicle history report offered below book value in Colorado, or any other mountain state, buy it!

Tundra

Type:  Full Sized Pickup Truck

Drive:

Rear and available Four Wheel Drive

If you're making the best mid-sized pickup truck in the world with the Toyota Tacoma, why not upsize it and build the best full size pickup as well?  Toyota's Tundra is a serious attempt at doing just that.

Fearlessly going after the legendary full-sized trucks from American manufacturer's such as Ford, GM, and Dodge, the Tundra brings Toyota quality and refinement to the playing field, as well as the brawn that is an absolute pre-requisite for entry into the contest.  Built in America, the Tundra has been steadily carving out a piece of the big truck pie for itself since it's inception as the T-100.

Each generation of Tundra has brought more power, body configurations, off road enhancements, towing capacity and more.  Mountain states such as Colorado have already adopted the Tundra as the preferred mountain-going full-size pickup, having been familiar with the smaller Tacoma's superior off-road abilities for years.

The Tundra is available with either a V-6 or V-8, a 4-door crew cab, extended cab, regular cab and more.  Special TRD Off Road enhancement packages as well as towing packages have been issued on what is fast becoming one of America's most driven trucks.

Yaris

Type:  Compact / Economy Car
Drive:
Front Wheel Drive

Popular vehicle models tend to grow a larger belt line over their lifespan and Toyota models are no exception.  This trend has left many Toyota consumers wondering, "does Toyota still make an inexpensive, gas-pump-busting, wonder-car that made them so famous?"  The answer is, "Yaris, they do!"  The loveable Yaris burst onto the automotive scene in 2007 with its 1.5 liter motor boasting 106 horsepower, and all of the charm of the first Toyota's to hit the U.S., plus modern refinements. Make no mistake, this is the type of car that helped make Toyota into a world-beating automotive powerhouse.  4 door sedan as well as a 3-door hatchback models are available.

The Yaris is affordable to buy, own, and drive.  Possibly more important, the light and maneuverable Yaris is simply fun to drive which is a proven, unbeatable, and quintessentially Toyota formula for a wildly successful vehicle.
