Jetta Type: Mid Size Sedan Drive: Front Wheel Drive
Now in its 6th generation, The Jetta's longevity is largely due to its having delivered that "German engineering"
mystique found in more expensive BMW, Mercedes, and Audi sports sedans,
at an affordable price.
The 4 door Jetta is offered with a wide choice of engines ranging from fuel efficient turbo diesel models, to 4 and 6 cylinder version. The GLI package is the Jetta equivalent to the better-known GTI option package offered on the Golf, featuring many factory performance upgrades. A Jetta wagon was offered from 2001 to 2005, some of those with an all wheel drive option. Buyers looking for a cure for the common commuter sedan take the wheel and like the Jetta almost instantly. A combination of quick throttle-response, positive handling and feel, great ergonomics and superior outward visibility make the Jetta a driver's car, for those who wish to truly enjoy their driving experience each and every day.
Touareg Type: Mid Size Luxury SUV / Crossover Drive: All Wheel Drive
The VW Touareg was developed in partnership with Porsche and shares the same platform and many of the driving characteristics as the Porsche Cayenne SUV. That said, the Toureg delivers a level of luxury and performance that often surprises first time drivers of the big VW. The Toureg also offers an optional, fuel efficient turbo-diesel V6 TDI engine that generates 221 hp and a whopping 407 lb-ft. of torque. The Porsche does not.
Given these unique characteristics, along with car-like unibody construction, the VW Toureg has an uncommon appeal that sets it apart, and above, the common SUV crossover. This has inflated the cost of a new Toureg, but thanks to used car price depreciation--and under-appreciation by the general public, the Toureg is an excellent choice for bargain hunters.
